Bad breath is responsible for the embarrassment and destroys relationships with family and friends. It may flatten your confidence and self esteem and may even cause severe depression.

Halitosis could be caused due to a variety of factors, but the most common cause of bad breath is poor dental hygiene. Those who don't brush their teeth on a regular basis give an open invitation to bacteria. When bacteria act on the food debris, it leads to bad breath. It's also frustrating trying to control it and cure it. So, what I'm going to do is share with you some natural ways to get rid of bad breath. That way, you will have more confidence and high self-esteem as a result of your new and fresher breath.

1. Use grapefruit seed extract, mixed with warm water and sea salt to kill bacteria and infection while soothing any irritation in the back of the throat. Mix 1 cup of warm water with a 1/2 tsp. of sea sat and five drops of grapefruit seed extract. Stir well so that all the ingredients are dissolved. Sip in half of the liquid and gargle for 1 minute. Spit out the solution at the end of the minute. Wait five minutes and then repeat again.

2. Avoid mouthwasheswith dyes and alcohol. Mouthwash containing cetylpyridinium chloride, chlorine dioxide, sodium chlorite or zinc may serve as an antibacterial agent, that can control the number of anaerobic bacteria in mouth.

3. Another natural way to cure bad breath is to drink plenty of water. Experts seem to agree that you should drink at least 8 cups of water a day to fight bad breath. What happens when drinking that much water is that your mouth stays wet and salivated. Not having enough water will dry your mouth and your breath will smell. Yes, it is as simple as that.

4. You can also prepare a mouthwash at home. For this you will need finely chopped sprigs of parsley. Add these to two cups of water along a pinch of ground cloves and put it on a flame. Once it starts boiling, remove it from the flame and let it cool. Strain it and gargle with it daily.

5. Consider herbs when trying to get rid of bad breath with natural home remedies. Chewing a sprig of parsley, sage, coriander or fresh mint can serve as an immediate bad breath remedy and eating the leaves can help combat halitosis from within. You can also create an antiseptic gargling solution to use before bed by steeping cloves or anise seeds in hot water for 30 minutes.

6. One of the most effective halitosis home remedies involves the use of fenugreek seeds. Put a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in half a liter of cold water. Heat it on a low flame for about fifteen minutes. Strain it and drink it twice daily.

7. A study (Feb 2005) reported to the International Association for Dental research suggests that eating plain yogurt for 6 weeks can sweeten your breath because it reduces levels of offensive compounds produced by bacteria in the mouth by 80%.

8. brush your teeth after every meal. Do your best to brush your teeth after every meal even if you go to work and it seems impossible. Also, you should brush your tongue and the roof of your mouth. Itís a good idea to floss at least once a day if not after every meal.

9. eating fiber-rich foods like fruits, oats and bran, whole-wheat bread, beans and lentils and vegetables like carrots and peas can help promote good digestion. If you also have apple cider vinegar in the house, try drinking a teaspoon before meals to reduce digestive disorders.
