Fresh breath provides confidence in everyday communication with other people. Bad breath is caused by bacteria which live on our teeth and gums. These bacteria feast on food particles left on our teeth creating volatile sulfur compounds (VSC). 1. If there is no orange nearby, avoid eating garlic, onion or old cheese. Eating them will make your breath even worse. You may also scrape your tongue with teeth, it may be covered with bacteria that break down proteins, which in turn produce gases that smell bad.

Additionally, saliva helps wash away the food particles bacteria feed on and dissolves odorous volatile sulfur compounds. Actions which dry the mouth or reduce saliva flow can increase bad breath odor. By drinking water we stimulate saliva flow, wash away left-over food particles, and moisten the mouth making it less hospitable to odor causing bacteria. This is one of the best bad breath cure.



5. Chew fennel, dill, cardamom and anise seeds. Anise, which tastes like black licorice, can kill bacteria on the tongue. The others can help mask the odor of halitosis.



6. Chew Sugarless Gum. If you can't brush after a meal or snack consider chewing sugarless gum. This chewing action helps cleanse the teeth and stimulates the flow of saliva. Saliva in turn further helps to cleanse the mouth and dissolves odorous volatile sulfur compounds. Make sure, however, to use gum which does not contain sugar .



7. When you finish your meal, you should chew the parsley on your plate. Parsley is rich in chlorophyll, a great oral deodorant that can kill germs easily. If you can get an orange, peel it and eat it. Citric acid will stimulate the salivary glands and increase saliva production.
